Originally built in 1903, the Maxwell House was owned by the Maxwells. It is on the state of Alabama historical registry. It is said to have been the first house in Tuscaloosa to have indoor plumbing and electricity.
The architecture and style of the house creates one of the most unique venues in the city and Southeast. The expansive Southern style wrap-around porch with the grandiose columns is the highlight of the building. The woodwork inside the house is all original, including the columns and floors. The house has 3 levels, R&R Cigars currently uses the first and second for different lounge rooms for customers, while using the 3rd as storage.
