Watching the long, beautifully formed ash clinging so perfectly to your cigar suddenly disappear into your lap can be a frustrating and messy experience. So, enhancing your cigar smoking moments with the best cigar ashtrays removes the lost-ash headache and takes your cigar experience to the next level.

Cigar ashtrays provide the safety and convenience necessary to enjoy your favorite smokes fully. There are many sizes, shapes, and styles from which to choose you can use to create the ultimate DIY cigar lounge experience. We’ll show you all the tips and recommendations for you to discover the best cigar ashtrays.

Cigar Ashtray Basics: Elevating Your Cigar Experience with the Perfect Ashtray

Before searching for a cigar ashtray, consider the space you plan to use the ashtray to determine what size and style best fits. Think of an ashtray as another piece of furniture. You don’t want it to be too big or small for the area you are using. It should blend with the space and décor naturally.

Consider the tray or “pan” size of the ashtray. This is the part of the ashtray that holds discarded ash. A wide and shallow pan makes it easy to rest your cigar in the ashtray, yet you’ll need to empty it often as ash accumulates. In contrast, deeper pans don’t require as much emptying and provide more wind protection. If you need an outdoor ashtray, then consider more durable materials that will hold up in inclement weather.

Many cigar ashtrays include cigar rests that let you safely set down cigars during cigar smoking sessions. One or two cigar rests are ideal if you’re the only one using the ashtray. If you plan to share the ashtray with fellow cigar enthusiasts, an ashtray with more cigar rests and a deeper pan for ash accumulation is optimal. If you plan to enjoy cigars on the go, consider a small travel-size ashtray.

Finding the Best Cigar Ashtrays to Suit Your Taste

Once you have narrowed down the functionality of your ideal ashtray, all you have to do is find the one that best fits the décor of your cigar smoking space. A cigar ashtray doesn’t have to be an eyesore. The ashtray will be a part of your cigar smoking space, your décor, so make sure it is aesthetically pleasing while performing its function. For example, a luxurious Hemingway Signature cigar deserves cigar accessories with character. So, choose a cigar ashtray that shows off your style and panache.

Here, you can have fun and let your creativity run free. If you prefer sleek and modern, you’ll find ashtrays that feature modernistic metal designs that might suit your taste. A cigar ashtray featuring wood or glass might work best if you prefer a more elegant, old-world look.

A Closer Look at Best Cigar Ashtrays

Cigar ashtrays are much like any other home or office furnishing. Their functionality should blend with the look and style of a space. However, sometimes it comes down to one of those “I’ll know it when I see it” moments. So, let’s look at the top cigar ashtray recommendations to help give you an overview of the best cigar ashtrays.

Ceramic Cigar Ashtrays

Ceramic cigar ashtrays offer various colors, shapes, designs, and sizes. These ashtrays provide an elegant style ideal for almost any cigar-smoking space. While ceramic ashtrays are fragile and must be handled carefully, they are easy to clean and adaptable to any permanent cigar smoking space.

Glass Cigar Ashtrays

Like ceramic, glass cigar ashtrays provide a diverse range of options. These ashtrays give your décor a touch of sophistication, perfectly suited for a refined Casa De Las Estrellas cigar or crowd-pleaser Foundation cigar. Glass ashtrays are available in numerous styles to fit any decor, and some top ashtrays include laser cut shapes and designs.

Metal Cigar Ashtrays

Metal cigar ashtrays bring a unique style to any décor while offering greater durability than other ashtrays. These ashtrays can be crafted of sterling silver, steel, brass, aluminum, pewter, or other metal-based materials. They can provide a distinctly classic, old world vibe or a modern look–perfect while enjoying a Guy Fieri Knuckle Sandwich by Espinosa Cigars

Cigar ashtrays are crafted of other materials or composites, ranging from simple polyresin or plastic options to sleeker carbon fiber or gold-plated treasures. So, you have many options from which to choose for your cigar-smoking hideaway.

Whether you’re just getting into cigar smoking or you’re a seasoned aficionado, knowing the ins and outs of refilling your butane torch lighter is crucial for maximizing your smoking pleasure. In this brief guide, we’ll take you through the process step-by-step, covering everything from grasping the inner workings of a torch lighter to picking the perfect butane fuel and guaranteeing secure handling and upkeep.

Understanding Your Cigar Torch Lighter: Components and Functionality

Before diving into the refilling process, let’s familiarize ourselves with the key components of a cigar torch lighter and how it functions. Most cigar torch lighters consist of a few essential parts:

Understanding how these components work together will help you troubleshoot any issues and maintain your torch lighter effectively.

Selecting the Right Butane Fuel: Factors to Consider

Selecting the right butane fuel is crucial for maintaining the optimal performance and longevity of your cigar torch lighter. Not all butane fuels are created equal, so it’s essential to choose wisely. First and foremost, prioritize purity. Seek out high-purity butane fuel, preferably triple-refined or higher. This purity level helps prevent clogging and ensures a clean burn, enhancing the overall performance of your lighter.

Additionally, consider the size of the fuel nozzle on your torch lighter. Ensuring compatibility with the butane canister is vital for seamless refilling. Using a fuel canister with a nozzle that matches the size of your torch lighter’s inlet valve will help prevent leaks and ensure efficient fuel transfer.

Moreover, opt for filtered butane fuel whenever possible. Filtered fuel removes impurities and contaminants, further reducing the risk of clogs and extending the life of your torch lighter. By choosing filtered butane, you’re enhancing your lighter’s performance and investing in its long-term durability.

By carefully considering these factors when selecting butane fuel, you can optimize the performance and longevity of your cigar torch lighter. Ultimately, this ensures a reliable and enjoyable smoking experience every time.

Step-by-Step Guide to Refilling Your Cigar Torch Lighter

Now that you’ve acquainted yourself with the essential components and have chosen the appropriate butane fuel, it’s time to dive into the step-by-step process of refilling your cigar torch lighter:

Prepare Your Workspace: Begin by selecting a suitable workspace. Ensure it is well-ventilated and free from any open flames or heat sources. This precautionary measure minimizes the risk of accidents and promotes a safe refilling environment.

Bleed the Lighter: Before refilling, it’s crucial to release any residual pressure from the lighter. To do so, locate the fuel valve on the lighter and depress it using a small tool or screwdriver. This step ensures a smooth and efficient refilling process.

Insert the Nozzle: With the lighter adequately depressurized, align the nozzle of the butane canister with the fuel inlet valve located on the bottom of the torch lighter. This alignment ensures a secure connection between the canister and the lighter, facilitating the transfer of fuel.

Refill the Lighter: Once aligned, firmly press the butane canister into the fuel inlet valve and hold it in place for a few seconds. This action allows the butane fuel to transfer from the canister to the lighter’s reservoir. Be sure to maintain a steady hand to prevent any spills or leaks during this process.

Wait and Check: After refilling, allow the lighter to sit for a few minutes to reach room temperature. This brief waiting period ensures that the fuel stabilizes within the lighter.

Quick Pump Top Off: After letting the lighter rest for a moment you will often realize there is still a sizable air bubble at the top of the chamber. How to fill that you ask? Simple, instead of the slow deep press of the nozzle on the nipple, you want to give it four to five quick synchronous bursts, by doing that you displace the air and fill it up with more butane.

Once the lighter has acclimated, test the flame to ensure proper ignition. If the flame appears weak or inconsistent, repeat the refilling process as needed until optimal performance is achieved.

Essential Tips for Safe Handling and Maintenance

Ensuring the longevity and safety of your cigar torch lighter requires diligent maintenance and proper care. Here are essential tips to keep in mind:

Regular Maintenance: Make it a habit to periodically clean the fuel nozzle and ignition mechanism of your torch lighter. Utilize a soft brush or compressed air to remove any debris or residue that may accumulate over time. This preventive measure helps prevent clogs and ensures consistent performance.

Avoid Overfilling: Overfilling your torch lighter can lead to leaks and safety hazards. Always adhere to the recommended fill level indicated by the manufacturer. By avoiding overfilling, you can minimize the risk of accidents and prolong the lifespan of your lighter.

Store Properly: Proper storage is key to maintaining the integrity of your torch lighter. When not in use, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. This safeguards the lighter from potential damage and ensures its functionality for future use.

By incorporating these tips into your maintenance routine, you can enjoy a reliable and efficient cigar torch lighter for years to come. Whether enjoying your new favorite medium-bodied Knuckle Sandwich with the habano wrapper, or experiencing the Rocky Patel Burn Special with toasty notes of cocoa, mastering the art of refilling your lighter with butane fuel not only enhances your cigar smoking experience but also ensures that your accessory remains in optimal condition for continued enjoyment. With the insights gained from this guide, you can confidently maintain your torch lighter and elevate your cigar smoking rituals.

Padron cigars are cherished by cigar smokers near and far for their unprecedented mix of rich yet smooth character, top-end craftsmanship, and exceptional value. Let’s take a quick look at what makes a cigar a “Padron” and how you can best enjoy the legacy and incredible value these award-winning smokes bring to the cigar-smoking experience.

The Legacy of Padron Cigars: A Brief Introduction

At the root of the Padron story is patriarch Jose Orlando Padron. His early years were spent on his family’s tobacco farm in Cuba’s Pinar del Rio province, a region famous for its world-class tobacco. Like his father and grandfather before him, Padron was immersed in tobacco farming, honing the skills that would one day lay the foundation for Padron cigars.

In 1961, Padron fled Cuba to escape the ire of Fidel Castro, eventually settling in Miami, Florida. With only a hammer given to him by a friend, Padron worked odd jobs until he could afford to launch Padron cigars in 1964. Padron quickly gained notoriety for offering premium cigars of tremendous quality and value. Increased production allowed Padron to set up shop in Nicaragua, where tobacco drew comparisons to Pinar del Rio’s.

Today, the Padron family maintains the same level of commitment, with Jorge Padron continuing his late father’s passion for quality and value. The Padron family’s symbol is the image of a hammer, the same hammer that allowed Jose O. Padron to kickstart a lasting legacy.

Price vs. Quality: Understanding the Value Proposition

Cigar makers continuously search for a good value-great quality sweet spot. However, rising production costs, climate change, government restrictions, and tax increases have widened the gap between perceived value and quality. Yet, Padron cigars prove you can have top quality and get more bang for the buck.

The Padron family maintains an unprecedented balance between price and quality, delivering cigars with exceptional craftsmanship while maximizing overall value. The secret is the Padron family’s ability to control every aspect of the cigar-making process, from seed cultivation to shipments destined for cigar stores. This vertical integration, paired with a commitment to sustainability, ensures that the Padron family’s passion for quality and value remains the focus of every Padron cigar.

Exploring Padron’s Range: From Affordable Classics to Luxury Blends

No matter your level of taste or price point, the Padron lineup has the cigar for you. These award-winning cigars deliver on the Padron family’s promise to craft quality, value-filled cigars for all. So, let’s dive into cigars from the Padron range you’ll find at R&R Cigars:

Available in Natural or Maduro and in a wide range of sizes, the rich, full-flavored Nicaraguan Puro cigars are loaded with 2.5-year-old sun-grown tobacco, making the line’s value all the more astonishing. Padron Series cigars are also versatile food and drink pairing classics.

Padron Damaso

The Damaso line celebrates Damaso Padron, who moved from the Canary Islands to Cuba, kickstarting the Padron family’s cigar dynasty that burns so brightly today. Damaso cigars offer a smooth, mellow expression, unlike other Padron cigars. Each offers a complex, more elegant side to the famously rich Padron style. Spark up a Damaso and relax with coffee, wine, or cocktails.

Padron 1964 Anniversary

The 1964 Anniversary series was created in honor of the brand’s 30th Anniversary, and cigar enthusiasts worldwide sat up and took notice of all of Padron’s top-shelf creations. Padron 1964 Anniversary cigars combine 4-year-old tobaccos with box-pressing to create a truly captivating cigar smoking experience that regularly lands the smokes on “Best Cigars” lists.

Padron 1926 Serie

These exquisite perennial award-winners are luxurious odes to Padron family patriarch Jose O. Padron, launched in honor of his 75th birthday. These box-pressed jewels feature velvety 5-year-old tobaccos and offer a wildly complex, engaging, full-bodied experience. Pair Padron 1926 Serie cigars with your favorite distilled spirit and prepare for a thrilling escape.

Padron Family Reserve

Once only made for the Padron family, Padron Family Reserve cigars mark the pinnacle of Nicaraguan cigar making. The Family Reserve collection features various blends representing important dates in the Padron family’s history. Each blend uses only 10-year-old Nicaraguan tobacco, garnering high praise for smoothness, richness, and complexity. It doesn’t get more top shelf than these beauties.

Where to Purchase Padron Cigars: Options and Considerations

Rocky Patel is legendary for his commitment to creating richly rewarding, expertly crafted premium cigars. His creations consistently rank amongst the world’s top smokes. It makes Rocky Patel cigars some of the most sought-after and most satisfying smokes on the market. So, let’s pull the curtain back on the Rocky Patel brand today. Let us see how the care and craftsmanship of making each cigar translate to an exceptional cigar-smoking experience.

The Rise of Rocky Patel Cigars

Unlike many cigarmakers born into the tobacco growing or cigar rolling life, Rocky Patel started as an entertainment and product liability lawyer based in Los Angeles, California. His many high-profile connections exposed him to the wonders of premium cigars. His growing interest in cigars led him to be one of the founding members of L.A.’s world-famous Grand Havana Room cigar lounge.

During the early days of the 1990s cigar boom, Rocky Patel seized the opportunity to start a new cigar brand. Have you heard of Indian Tabac? The brand proved naysayers wrong and became a hit with cigar smokers. It is laying the groundwork for the brand we know and love today as Rocky Patel cigars.

There is perhaps no harder working cigarmaker today than Rocky Patel. He splits his time overseeing cigar production at the Tavicusa factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, and the El Paraiso factory in Danli, Honduras. He combined this with handling the day-to-day operations of a globally recognized cigar company. Moreover, had legislative battles for cigar rights, and engaging with media, customers, and fans, and you have one busy schedule. Patel’s passion for creating great-tasting, innovative, well-made smokes at good value is at the heart of it all.

Something for Everyone: Discovering the Expansive Rocky Patel Portfolio:

Rocky Patel leaves no stone unturned when developing blends to suit all tastes. An ever-broadening range of Rocky Patel cigars features every imaginable cigar type, from mellow to intensely bold, from natural, earthy smokes to deliciously sweet, infused offerings. Here are just a few of the many Rocky Patel cigars you can explore at R&R Cigars:

Rocky Patel Vintage 1990

As one of the first-ever Rocky Patel offerings, the Vintage 1990 blend is a fan favorite famous for its rich texture yet smooth, balanced body and taste. Nicaraguan, Honduran, and Dominican tobaccos paired with a 12-year-old Broadleaf wrapper from Honduras give the smoke a luxurious medium-plus character with prominent toasted oak, leather, anise, cocoa, and earth flavors.

Rocky Patel Disciple

The Disciple blend pairs savory Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos with a Mexican San Andres wrapper leaf. The result is a wonderfully rich yet balanced smoke loaded with earth, pepper, cedar, oak, and coffee flavors strung together by a ribbon of subtle sweetness. The medium-to-full-bodied smoke is a great whiskey pairing option.

Rocky Patel Quarter Century

The 91-rated Quarter Century blend celebrates Patel’s first 25 years in the cigar business. Nicaraguan tobaccos aged 10 years are rolled into a Mexican San Andres Maduro wrapper. Each cigar is then aged an additional two years to deliver impeccable smoothness, complexity, and taste. Wood, chocolate, earth, pepper, leather, and sweet spice highlight this medium-full standout.

Rocky Patel White Label

The White Label is a crowning achievement for Rocky Patel that uses a 10-year-old blend of rich, earthy Nicaraguan tobacco leaves and the sweet, creamy qualities of Honduran tobacco. This mixture combines with the luxuriousness of a USA-grown Connecticut Shade wrapper. Cedary and nutty expressions punctuate this smooth, voluptuous, medium-bodied smoke.

Rocky Patel Sun Grown Maduro

The Rocky Patel Sun Grown Maduro series gives cigar lovers a beautifully balanced smoke perfect for pairing with a wide range of today’s finest distilled spirits. Nicaraguan tobaccos topped by a rich Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper give the smoke a satisfying, full-flavored character. Wood, earth, and toast undertones provide the blend’s structure while chocolaty sweetness lingers.

Rocky Patel Vintage 1992

Another of Rocky Patel’s earliest and most beloved blends, the Vintage 1992 series features a lavishly rich blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos topped by a 10-year-old Sumatra-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador. The smoke is a robust, yet smooth medium-full experience highlighted by leather, coffee, earth, and pepper flavors with a lingering sweetness.

Rocky Patel Java

Rocky Patel’s Java by Drew Estate is a game changer that marries the best of premium cigar craftsmanship with a unique flavor infusion process by Drew Estate. Each smoke delivers a smooth and wildly delicious coffee character perfect for any time. The original Java Maduro and milder Connecticut-wrapped Latte are classic favorites. The Java Mint and cherry-infused Java Red make perfect companions for delectable desserts.

Preparing Your Cigar: Ensuring an Even Burn

Proper preparation of your cigar is paramount, laying the foundation for an exceptional smoking experience characterized by an even burn and an explosion of flavor. To commence this ritual, first, meticulously examine your cigar, paying close attention to the wrapper for any imperfections or irregularities. Ensuring the wrapper is pristine guarantees a seamless smoking journey devoid of any hindrances.

With your cigar thoroughly inspected, it’s time to initiate the preheating process. This crucial step involves gently toasting the foot of the cigar, the end you’ll be lighting, to awaken its dormant flavors and prime it for ignition. To accomplish this, hold the cigar at a slight angle above the flame of your torch lighter, allowing the heat to envelop the foot without direct contact. Rotate the cigar slowly and evenly, ensuring all sides receive equal exposure to the flame. This careful rotation distributes the heat uniformly, coaxing the tobacco to awaken gradually.

As you engage in this preheating ritual, observe the transformation of the cigar’s foot, noting the subtle changes in color and texture. This process not only prepares the tobacco for ignition but also serves to awaken its intricate flavor profile, enhancing the overall enjoyment of your smoking experience.

By meticulously adhering to these preparatory steps, you set the stage for a smooth and consistent burn that unfolds effortlessly with each draw. Embrace this moment of anticipation as you embark on a sensory journey, guided by the tantalizing aromas and flavors that await you within the depths of your perfectly prepared cigar.

Mastering the Lighting Technique: Tips and Tricks

Now, let’s get to the heart of the matter – mastering the lighting technique. Hold the preheated cigar at a slight angle above the flame, ensuring the heat draws the flame towards the foot. Avoid direct contact between the flame and the cigar to prevent overheating and flavor alteration. Aim to char the edges of the foot evenly by rotating the cigar.

Once charred, take a moment to appreciate the glowing embers before gently puffing to fully ignite the cigar.

Enjoying Your Perfectly Lit Cigar: Savoring the Experience

With your cigar now ignited to perfection, it’s time to indulge in the experience. Take deliberate draws, savoring each inhalation as the flavors gradually unfurl on your palate. Pay close attention to the intricate interplay of flavors and aromas, allowing them to dance across your senses with each puff. Remember, smoking a cigar transcends mere indulgence – it is an art form, a ritual to be revered and savored. Embrace each moment with reverence, for within the smoke lies a story waiting to be unraveled, an experience waiting to be cherished.

If you are a novice in the world of cigars, you may be confused about the complex cigar lexicon. Don’t let the unfamiliar terms put you off and send you running in the opposite direction.

Smoking a fine handmade cigar is undeniably a relaxing and luxurious experience. Learning about cigar shapes, sizes, and strength levels will help you choose the best options that you will enjoy. With a bit of knowledge, you can soon discern what you like and don’t like.

This deep dive into cigar basics will help you successfully navigate the world of premium cigars and become an expert in no time.

Cigar Basics: Shapes and Sizes

The shape and size of a cigar determine its intensity, draw, and the length of time it will burn. These details are some of the most important ones you need to learn.

A cigar’s length is measured in inches, while the ring gauge or thickness is measured in 64ths of an inch. A standard Robusto cigar is 5 x 50, which means that its length is five inches, and it has a 50 ring gauge (50/64ths of an inch).

A cigar’s shape is also known as vitola, and parejos and figurados are the two major types of vitolas. A parejo is a straight-sided cigar that does not taper, like a Robusto or Toro. Figurados are cigars that are not straight-sided, like a Torpedo, Belicoso, or Perfecto.

Some cigar manufacturers choose to launch cigars that are box-pressed or pressed into a square shape, like Padrón. Although many box-pressed cigars are popular among enthusiasts, one cannot say that a certain cigar shape is better than others.

Slender cigars tend to burn faster and hotter than thick vitolas that deliver a cooler draw and last relatively longer. Longer cigars are better for beginners as the smoke goes farther and cools down before it settles on your palate. This way, you can enjoy the flavor and make the most of the smoking experience.

If you want to indulge in a cigar for an hour or so, go for a Churchill or Double Corona. If you only have half an hour to smoke, choose a Corona or Robusto.

Cigar Strength

The body or strength of a cigar is another factor to consider. It determines the intensity of the smoke and is usually a matter of personal preference among cigar smokers. Cigars can be mild-bodied, medium-bodied, or full-bodied.

Mild-bodied cigars have a delicate and gentle flavor that many new smokers enjoy. Medium-bodied smokes are just that: medium in body and intensity. Full-bodied cigars are full-flavored, bold, strong cigars that deliver rich flavor.

The flavor of a cigar gives it its taste. It depends on many factors, such as the cigar’s age, its dryness or humidity levels, your last meal, your food or drink pairings, and so on. The flavors of a cigar can range from woody and earthy to sweet, creamy, nutty, or even leathery or spicy.

Experienced cigar smokers often go for their favorite full-bodied stogies. For beginners, it’s best to start with mild cigars and gradually work up to bolder flavors.

Note that mild and medium cigars have the most complex flavors. Full-bodied cigars usually have a single dimension and are known more for strength than complexity.

Cutting a Cigar

Cutting a cigar is vital as the head—the end you put in your mouth—is sealed. You need to open up the tip of the head to puff on your smoke and draw air through it. The way you cut a cigar also affects its draw.

The process is simple, just slice off the cap—1/8th of an inch is enough.

There are three main types of cutters: straight or guillotine cutters, punch or bullet cutters, and wedge or V-cutters. Straight cutters provide the most effortless draw on a cigar and are available in different designs. Punch cutters give a concentrated draw and a slower burn. Meanwhile, V-cutters create a highly concentrated draw.

Lighting a Cigar

The way you light a cigar also has an impact on its flavor. Wooden matches, butane cigar lighters, and cedar spills are some of the best options to get great results when lighting a cigar. Do not use liquid fuel lighters or burning candles, as they will taint the cigar’s flavor.

Hold the cigar at a 45-degree angle and apply heat to its foot while rotating it a few times over the flame. This will toast and warm the tobacco for easy lighting. Don’t let the flame touch the cigar, and gently puff a few times without inhaling.

Once you feel the smoke in your mouth, blow lightly on the foot of the cigar to make sure the circumference is lit evenly. If the end is not glowing, light the cigar again until it is. Otherwise, the cigar will not burn evenly, and you will have a bad smoking experience.

Smoking a Cigar

Smoking a cigar is also an art in itself. To smoke a cigar without inhaling it into your diaphragm, draw it in through your mouth as you would when sucking on a straw. Puff every 30 to 60 seconds and enjoy the different flavor notes.

Tap off the ash gently along the edge of your ashtray after it grows to about an inch. Don’t smash or knock the cigar against the tray, or the wrapper will crack.

Check the end of your cigar occasionally to ensure it maintains an even burn.

Buying Premium Cigars

Visit a premium local cigar store and shop for premium cigars. The staff at such establishments are highly knowledgeable and very welcoming—they would be happy to answer all your questions and guide you through the cigar basics.

They can also offer recommendations based on your preferences and tastes so you can find the perfect cigar body and flavor.

The Story of R&R Cigars

The seeds of R&R Cigars were sown in 2005 when father and son duo, Randy and Reagan Starner, smoked their first cigar together. It was their way of celebrating Reagan’s graduation from high school. This first shared experience with cigars led them to occasionally smoke together on the back porch of their house or in the basement, which was eventually referred to as R&R Cigars.

When Reagan went off to college and law school, he and Randy smoked at his apartment, which became R&R 2.0. Their shared love for cigars strengthened their father-son bond and fueled their passion.

To their dismay, there were no good cigar bars in Tuscaloosa. So after Reagan graduated from law school in 2011, he and Randy decided to open R&R Cigars in Tuscaloosa, Alabama

In January 2012, the cigar bar at the end of University Blvd opened its doors to the people of Tuscaloosa. It was designed to be a place where people could relax, recharge, and enjoy the finest cigars in the city.

In May 2013, R&R Cigars shifted its base two blocks away to the historic Charles N. Maxwell House in Tuscaloosa.

In December 2013, R & R Cigars was featured on the cover of Tobacco Shop magazine. In the same year, Reagan released his own premium cigar blend, the Black Warrior, which was soon followed by another in-house blend—Casa de las Estrellas—in 2014. Both the cigars became highly successful and remain popular today.

In November 2014, Randy and Reagan launched Reagan’s White House Bar at the Maxwell House with table service as opposed to bar service. This helped R&R Cigars become Tuscaloosa’s first and only whiskey bar, now considered the best whiskey bar in the Southeast.

Maxwell House, aka The Cigar Mansion

Originally built in 1911, the Maxwell House is the current location of R&R Cigars. It has a unique architecture and style that enhances the cigar smoking experience for all of its visitors. The undisputed highlight of the building is the expansive southern style wrap-around porch with its stately columns. The original woodwork also remains intact, including floors and columns, preserving the rich history and original quality of the early 1900s architecture.

Maxwell House consists of three levels. R&R Cigars uses the first and second levels as lounge rooms for customers and the third as a storage room. The lounge rooms truly enhance the cigar smoking experience, allowing patrons to enjoy a cigar and bourbon in comfort. They boast multiple seating styles and options that offer direct views of the 70-inch TVs set up in the rooms.

The VIP Lounge on the upper level also features themes such as movies, sports, and of course, cigars that add to the relaxed and comfortable vibe. Locker members can enjoy complimentary soft drinks and coffee.

The lounge has a gorgeous veranda redesigned in 2016 to enhance comfort and provide seating for up to 50 patrons. It allows visitors to enjoy an alfresco smoking experience.

The Humidor

R&R Cigars is home to one of the most diverse humidors in the country—it has more than 1,000 cigars that you can choose from. The cigar bar is a Rocky Patel Partner lounge, so you’ll find an incredible selection of Rocky Patel Cigars here.

There are also other highly rated classics such as Fuente, Padron, Perdomo, My Father, Alec Bradley, La Flor Dominicana, Knuckle Sandwich, and more. Cigar blends that are often hard to come by, such as Opus X, Fuente Anejos, Lost City, God of Fire, and Atabey are a specialty of R&R Cigars and can always be found at their cigar bar.

Boutique cigar brands like Tabernacle, Highclere Castle, Fable, Guaimaro, Powstanie, Illusione, Caldwell, Room 101, Kristoff, Espinosa, among many others, are also great finds at this humidor.

The humidor is also a hotspot for events featuring leading cigar manufacturers. In 2019, it hosted big names such as Nish Patel, Robert Caldwell, Bill Paley, Tony Gomez, Sean Williams, and others. They are only a few of the top cigar manufacturers that partner with R&R Cigars for luxury events.

Cigars, Whiskeys, and More

Over the years, R&R Cigars has grown significantly. They now offer more than just cigars and bourbon whiskeys. They also maintain an impressive collection of more than 80 crafted beers and 50 single malts, along with variations of fine wine, tequila, vodka, rum, and cigar accessories.

R&R Cigars is also the only 100-year bar in Tuscaloosa, meaning The Cigar Mansion has stocked full lines of age statement whiskies from Balvenie, Macallan, Glenfiddich, Highland Park, and more, allowing patrons to try a selection of various aged whiskeys spanning up to 100 years of difference for some distillers. This has made R&R Cigars the premier shop for connoisseurs of cigars and spirits in Alabama.

R&R Cigars also offers Reagan’s Famous Blind Samplers. These samplers allow beginners to try their hand at an assortment of cigar blends and brands so they can choose a favorite. This will enable new cigar aficionados to slowly develop a taste for cigars and, over time, learn to pair them with their favorite whiskeys or other liquors.

The One-Stop Shop for Cigars and Spirits

If you’re looking for the finest selection of cigars, whiskeys, wines, and other spirits in Alabama, R&R Cigars is your best bet. Its sophisticated team of experts, extensive humidor, and well-appointed lounge rooms ensure a luxury experience with top-notch cigars paired with the perfect liquors.

If you’re on the hunt for a box of delicious, expertly crafted smokes, then look no further than Caldwell Cigars. Featuring grade-A tobacco blends, the Caldwell cigar collection is home to a unique range of premium cigars known for quality construction, deeply satisfying taste and complexity. Here’s all you need to know about these R&R Cigars favorites and how you can purchase Caldwell Cigars.

What Are Caldwell Cigars?

Caldwell Cigars are legendary boutique cigars from Caldwell Cigar Company. The company is the brainchild of Robert Caldwell, who founded Caldwell Cigars in 2013, officially launching the cigars a year later. Caldwell had already experienced some success in the cigar industry, making a name for himself with a cigar-oriented hospitality service. In addition, he was known as the man behind Wynwood cigars, Caldwell’s first foray into small-batch, boutique cigars.

For his Caldwell Cigar Company, Caldwell set out to craft limited-production premium cigars using only rare, well-aged proprietary tobaccos. The key for Caldwell was to develop blends that not only he would smoke himself yet would stand up to the scrutiny of the industry’s most important critics: everyday cigar aficionados. Right out of the gate, Caldwell cigars proved stunning crowd-pleasers, winning over industry professionals and cigar lovers everywhere.

The Caldwell Cigar Collection features a broad array of boutique treasures, with something for every cigar smoker to enjoy. From easy-going to devilishly bold, you’ll find a Caldwell cigar to match your taste or mood. The premium collection of handmade Caldwell cigars includes:

Long Live The King

Made using A-grade tobaccos, Caldwell’s classic Long Live The King delivers a full-bodied experience packed with bold notes of earth, oak, black pepper, and dark chocolate. Rich in character yet smooth and balanced, the Long Live The King or LLTK to the initiated is constructed around a blend of filler leaves from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Peru. Corojo wrapper and binder leaves complete the highly sought-after cigars. The LLTK Mad Mofo ups the ante with a potent collection of Mexican, Indonesian, Dominican, Nicaraguan, and US-grown tobaccos. All of these limited production smokes are often difficult to track down, yet prove most delectably rare finds. LLTK cigars are R&R Cigars specialties favored by connoisseurs looking to purchase Caldwell cigars.

Eastern Standard

The Eastern Standard features some of Caldwell’s most flavorful creations. The smooth and mellow original Eastern Standard blend features an Ecuadorian Aracon Hybrid wrapper, an Indonesian binder, and select filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The supple textures of the aged tobaccos coat the palate with tasty delights while never overpowering the senses. The Eastern Standard Sun Grown provides a bolder, fuller-bodied expression thanks to a blend of Dominican, Mexican, and Ecuadorian leaves dressed in a Mexican Habano Sun Grown wrapper.

The King Is Dead

Another cigar featuring Caldwell’s rare grade-A tobaccos is The King Is Dead. One of Caldwell’s most sought-after and hardest-to-find cigars, the “TKID” series was five years in development and offers one of the industry’s most intriguing Dominican Puros. Each cigar wears a tantalizing Dominican Negrito wrapper which covers select Dominican leaves. The smoke is beautifully balanced with splashes of creamy milk chocolate, earth, cedar, and cinnamon spice flavors, with a richly complex finish. Consider yourself a member of an exclusive club if you can get your hands on these treasures. Luckily, R&R Cigars specializes in these rare delights. So, while others can only dream of the legendary cigars, you’ll be savoring the voluptuous character of Caldwell’s TKID.

Blind Man’s Bluff

The Ecuadorian Habano-wrapped Blind Man’s Bluff proved an instant hit with cigar lovers, becoming one of the brand’s most iconic lines and spawning two variations to complement the original. Select long-fillers from the Dominican Republic and Honduras are at the heart of the Blind Man’s Bluff Habano and the mellower Blind Man’s Bluff Connecticut, which sports an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper leaf. The third Blind Man’s Bluff edition is the Blind Man’s Bluff Nicaragua, a Nicaraguan Puro, which delivers a rich, full-flavored adventure highlighting the best of Nicaraguan tobacco. Each Blind Man’s Bluff expression offers intensely flavorful yet deliciously smooth experiences that continue to rack up the accolades.

Savages

The lesser-known Savages cigar range kicks it up a notch with a full-bodied explosion of sweet and spicy notes strung together by ribbons of hearty leather flavors. An oily Ecuadorian Habano wrapper surrounds a secretive blend of aged tobaccos, which Robert Caldwell counts amongst his favorite go-to options. Often overshadowed by other Caldwell cigars, Savages are great options for those searching for a boldly textured guilty pleasure. The cigars are also prime candidates for those looking to put cigars down for extended aging, allowing the tobacco blend to mature and mellow while enhancing the complex taste.

Anastasia

Caldwell Cigars’ Anastasia has been offered in several expressions over the years, with Caldwell partnering with some of the industry’s best cigarmakers, including Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr. and the legendary Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. factory in the Dominican Republic. However, the current Anastasia 2022 “Yellow Band” features the most alluring expression to date. While Caldwell and his current collaborators remain hush-hush about the blend, the smoke is silky smooth, medium-bodied, and satisfying any time of day or night.

The Last Tsar

The Last Tsar is a take-no-prisoners flavor bomb that doesn’t hide behind the luxuriousness of the tobaccos contained within. The full-bodied adventure features a secret blend of top-grade tobaccos covered by a dark Arapiraca Hybrid wrapper from Ecuador. With every puff of these royally entertaining smokes, you can expect big-boned cedar, pepper, and cocoa flavors supported with splashes of citrus and cream. The Last Tsar cigars can be enjoyed now, or you can put them away for extra aging. Either way, the boisterously delicious “TLT” cigars won’t be around forever, so get them if you can find them!

La Barba

Sommelier Tony Bellatto partnered with Robert Caldwell and frequent Caldwell collaborator Tabacalera William Venture to create La Barba cigars. With five different blends from which to choose, cigar lovers have a plethora of options ranging from smooth and mellow to rich and boldly structured. A nod to Bellatto’s background as a sommelier, La Barba cigars are blended to be great pairing options for wine, port, and craft ales, as well as top-shelf spirits such as bourbon, rum, and tequila. Just pick your La Barba cigar and a beverage to match, and you are on your way to a blissful cigar-smoking experience.

In addition to these exceptional cigars, you can find Caldwell’s Cream Machine in their “Lost and Found” series at R&R Cigars.

What Makes Caldwell Cigars Special?

Caldwell Cigars all have complex, beautifully aged tobacco blends assembled by boutique cigarmakers at the height of their abilities. From the wildly popular Blind Man’s Bluff to the exceptional The King Is Dead, Caldwell cigars feature some of the most exquisite premium tobaccos on the planet. This alone puts them amongst the cigar industry’s elite.

Yet there is more to Caldwell cigars than just rare tobacco. Every Caldwell cigar is infused with the unique personality of its namesake, Robert Caldwell. His off-beat sense of humor is evident in the cigars’ whimsical cigar band and box art. Also, his relentless passion for quality is behind the exquisite blending techniques, exceptional craftsmanship, and crowd-pleasing flavor profiles. When all is said and done, Caldwell creates cigars that everyday cigar lovers can call their own. Whether a casual smoker looking for a deeper exploration of cigars or a dedicated cigar connoisseur searching for that perfect smoke, the world of Caldwell Cigars is quite simply a great place to be.
